About Us

“I was a stay-at-home Mom since adopting our daughter, Amaya, in 1999. Being a mom kept me very busy, but as my daughter grew older and more independent, I realized I had more time on my hands. I decided I needed to do something for myself--something creative to earn a little extra income.

A year ago, I was visiting a friend who needed a bracelet repaired. Having always dabbled in jewelry making, I easily repaired her bracelet. She then showed me a recent purchase--a “Mother’s bracelet”. I had never seen one before and I thought, 'Wow, this is really beautiful!' She suggested that I make and sell this type of bracelet as she said they were hard to find locally.

From that point on, the creative juices started flowing and haven't stopped. I worked and re-worked various patterns and tried different materials until I was satisfied. It took months to develop the perfect pieces.

The next step was to find a name for my jewelry business. What was my inspiration? Why I was doing this? It was my daughter--the most important thing in my life--Maji! And so Maji Designs was created.

It’s more than a year later and my jewelry creations have really evolved beyond those first Mother’s bracelets. I've incorporated new materials such as leather and hand-made beads in addition to my silver, gold and crystal designs. And best of all, I'm still excited about the creative possibilities yet to come!
